Horovitz, Michael
(1935- )
   One of the Revival poets, he was born in Frankfurt and emigrated to England with his family as a child. He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, and is known as a performance artist and poet. Poetry for Horwitz is part of showbiz, part of everyday life, of every activity. An early champion of oral and jazz poetry, and he performed on both sides of the Atlantic. He founded New Departures publications and Live New Departures (1959); Jazz Poetry SuperJam Bandwagons (1970); and the Poetry Olympics Festivals (1980).
